The role  

 Joining us as Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will have an opportunity to bring state-of-the-art AI to the tactical edge. You will be adapting and deploying vision and language models for compute efficiency and local context, using tools from our existing codebase as well as state-of-the-art tools. This is not a traditional developer role, you will be working directly with the users and traveling to customer sites, building solutions rapidly sometimes on site under difficult conditions.

You must have these to apply:  

  • Strong engineering background. Preferred fields include but are not limited to Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Machine Learning. 
  • Strong coder with demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++ 
  • Experience in Linux development environments 
  • Experience building solutions with LLMs and a deep understanding of overall Gen AI landscape. 
  • Foundation in Machine Learning basics (Evaluation, Training, Problem Decomposition). 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional, international teams including hardware and UI design 
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases 
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time to build, test, and deploy capabilities in the real world 
  • A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a no-matter-what mindset 
  • U.S. Person Status 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Nvidia platforms and TensorRT 
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, 3D printing 
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems 
  • Hands-on experience working with and testing electrical and mechanical systems 
  • Basic proficiency/familiarity with Java 
  • Distributed communication networks and message standards 
  • Knowledge of military systems and operational tactics 
  • Veteran/Military Experience

Location

This is an office-based role, primarily requiring work in our Syracuse NYC location, with travel expected.
