MPCST SPONSORED NATIONAL SEMINAR ON DRUG DISCOVERY THROUGH REVERSE PHARMACOLOGY

IMG_7343IMG_7349IMG-20170327-WA0020IMG-20170327-WA0028Acropolis Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Indore (AIPER)  organized one day National seminar on Drug Discovery through Reverse Pharmacology & its Transformation into Modern Therapeutics: Current Status, Challenges & Opportunities.

Dr. G.N. Darwhekar, Principal AIPER welcomed the dignitaries and addressed the gathering explaining the role of Reverse Pharmacology in drug discovery and development.

Shri Ashok Sojatia, Chairman BOG Acropolis group was also present in the seminar.

The Chief Guest Dr. Shailendra Saraf,  Vice President, Pharmacy Council of India explained the importance of Indigenous Systems of Medicine and importance of  Ethnopharmacological approach for discovering new leads. He also emphasized on multidisciplinary research and highlighted the new sectors as Stemceuticals, Medical Devices, Medical Insurance, Medical Tourism and Immunization for Pharmacist to excel in their field.

Guest of Honour Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, Vice President, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. elaborated about various scopes and opportunities for budding pharmacist in Industry. He motivated the students to develop their inner strength and know their area of interest for setting goals.

Special Guest Dr. Swarnlata Saraf, Vice President Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India highlighted the utilization of ancient Indian herbal medication and its commercialization.

Dr. D.K. Jain, Director, COP, IPS Academy explained the significance of such seminars, conferences and workshop.

The keynote speakers for the technical session were Dr. Manish Wanjari, Research Officer (Scientist II), Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Drug Development, Gwalior, CCRAS, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India,  Dr. Adnan Naim , Post Doc Research Associate IIT Indore and Dr. C. Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajiv Gandhi Technological University, Bhopal. Dr. Wanjari delivered lecture on “Reverse Pharmacology: a transdisciplinary module of drug discovery and development”. The topic for Dr. Naim’s talk was “Stress granules -target for cancer treatment”. Dr. Karthikeyan highlighted the “Phenotypic approach in anti cancer drug discovery – back to old days”.

Technical session was followed by Poster Presentation in which 55 research and review papers were presented by faculties and students. Around 350 delegates from various institutes attended the seminar.
